Chalkboard Paint 101

I have always loved chalkboards. We never had them in school, but I’ve always been fascinated by them. Maybe it was because of how classic they look. Plus you can draw on them and that’s always fun!

Since Myke and I are running in and out of the apartment so much, we soon found ourselves saying the same thing to each other, “Don’t let me forget ____ tomorrow” “Put a sticky note on the door knob.”

We were saying it almost weekly, since I had always wanted something chalkboard, Myke suggested on making the door chalkboard so we can just write on the door. If you read my post from yesterday, you will also remember that we just bought a coffee table for cheap and we decided to paint that chalkboard too. Myke also found a recipe on the internet in which you can make your own chalkboard paint and use any color you want.

For all your chalkboard needs, here is a recipe for you to follow:

Mix 1 cup of any color flat latex pain (it’s important) with 2 tablespoons of non-sanded tile grout. Paint it on the surface and when it’s dry, run over it with a medium grit sandpaper.  And that’s it!
