Valentine’s Day 2016

I have always loved Valentine’s Day. When I was younger, my dad always had a card and a little gift for us the morning of February 14th. I usually take the day to celebrate people that I love, obviously Myke was added to the list in 2009. He wasn’t the biggest celebrator of holidays, but I turned him around 😉

Since we are so busy, it’s hard for us to get away for a nice date night, so we make more of an effort on our anniversaries and Valentines Day. This year, we decided to go to a movie at the AMC theatre that serves meals while you watch the movie. We did the same thing last year, and I have no complaints about doing it again. We love going to movies and eating together, so it’s the perfect date. Plus I get my husband all to myself which is always a good thing.

We kept it very simple this year. We went to lunch at Panara, which was great because we were one of three couples there and then went to a movie, which is something we love doing. Since it was also Sunday and I was teaching the kids at one of our services, I decided I wanted to do something special for the kids. I decided to bake cookies and make little baggies for them to show not only my love for them, but to remind them of God’s love for them.

I started out by just making sugar cookies, but Myke had the great idea to add sprinkles to the cookies for a little extra pop and to make a batch of red ones for the special day. The kids loved them and the adults loved the extras I made as well. On Monday, since it was a holiday, I made Snickerdoodle cookies-we had the ingredients and we were going to be traveling this weekend-so I had to get my baking in a little early.
