The Bridesmaids. The Book

Bridesmaid

The best part about being a blogger is getting the opportunity to review certain items from certain companies. Birchbox is an amazing company and is the kind of company that I can only dream of working for. They are known for their mail subscriptions with make up products, but many people are not aware of is that they have a book club. We read a book and we can discuss it online. Every month, Birchbox gives bloggers an opportunity to win a copy of the book. This month’s book is called The Bridesmaids written by Eimear Lynch. People, if you have been reading this blog for the past few months, you will know that not only is my brother-in-law getting married this year, but his amazing and beautiful fiance asked me to be one of her bridesmaids. This was perfect. I immediately tweeted and entered to win the opportunity. The next day I got the message that I had won a copy and I giggled with excitement. Without further adieu, I give you The Bridesmaids review.

I have to admit there were two reasons this book stuck out to me. 1. Even though it has absolutely nothing to do with the movie, I loved the movie, so a book with the same title can’t be bad. 2. I am going to be in an upcoming wedding and I thought reading about different stories would make the experience more fun, especially because I’m on the other side of the country from the bride. Plus I have been in a few different weddings and it’s always fun to hear stories about weddings. Every wedding is different, therefore every story is unique. When I got the book, I was excited to start it and when I read the note from the author, she made me laugh out loud, that’s when I know that this is going to be a good book.

For those of you who do not know the book, it is a collection of different stories of people sharing of their experience of being a bridesmaid. The author interviewed many different types of people for this book, so it fits just about every type of scenario you can think of.  There is a story about a young man who had the honor of being a bridesmaid, a story about a young woman going to a wedding in Italy and became a sued o bridesmaid, my favorite story was about a girl who went to support a friend getting married in Germany. She and the bride had lost touch over the years, but the bride asked her to be at the wedding because she wanted her support. She travels to Germany and she is introduced to groomsman. They ended up hitting it off and they are now married and living in Germany. The story represented a great friendship and love story all wrapped into one and those are my favorite stories. The more I read, the more I laughed and teared up. There is just something about weddings, no matter who is getting married, that just gets me.

Overall, it is a great, simple, fun summer read, whether you are getting married or not getting married.

If you would like to purchase the book, you can have it be a gift with purchase when you purchase $35+ on birchbox.com.
