Taylor’s Graduation
The time had finally come. The whole reason for the trip. Taylor was graduating. This was the night we had been looking forward to for the past year. In true Clements fashion, we went to a restaurant and celebrated Taylor. The chosen restaurant was Fat Maggie’s, that Niana so expertly picked out. It was southern bar-b-q and it could not have been better. I adore anything bar-b-q, it’s in my blood. That’s why I could never be a vegiterian or vegan. I respect and love their food, but I just love my meat too much. Anyway, I chose a pull pork sandwhich with a peach bar-b-q sauce and a side of mac and cheese. I topped it off with bottled root beer to wash it all down. We also had buffalo cheese dip with chips. Unbelievable. That’s all I gotta say. If you are in the area, please go check them out. You will not regret it.
Then the time really did come. It was time to rush to the auditorium to save seats for the big event. Just sitting in the audience, you can feel the energy and anticipation in the room. I had the pleasure of sitting next to my future sister-in-law and she gave me the inside scoop on the school and the tradition in the ceremony, as she had graduated the previous year. The ceremony and speakers were wonderful, but we were to excited for the main event. When it came I could hardly keep it back. He walked up to the stage, head held high. “Taylor Clements.” He did it. He walked across that stage with his head high. Walking away from all the crap he had overcome to get to that one moment. There are very few people who will ever know the stuff that man had to endure in his four years in college. It is done. He did it and he didn’t trip!
After the ceremony, we hugged and cried. We went back to the hotel to celebrate with cake and presents, again in true Clements fashion. It’s not a party unless we laugh until our sides hurt and we cry until we can’t anymore. It was a special night, one that will live in the Clements history books. Congrats again brother. I love you. Now it’s time to get to the chapel, it’s time to get hitched!
