Let’s Run: Two Weeks In
I’ve been running consistently for a couple of weeks now and I have to say, I feel good. I’m tired, but I do feel good. As I’ve mentioned before, I used to run pretty regularly in college and before I had kids. I truly did miss it, but it was hard for me to balance it with the life I had created when I was living in LA. Now that I’m in this new season, it feels so good to get back to it.
As I mentioned, instead of jumping into full-blown half marathon training, I’m doing Couch to 10k training to build my running legs back up. Luckily the RISE RUN isn’t until December so there is a little bit of time to do this. Hopefully, it won’t get canceled like so many events have lately.
This past week, I ran two times with the girls in the double stroller and one time on my own at night. I hope to run in different ways (with the stroller, in the rain, etc) to help my running. However, after running without the stroller I will say, it is 10 times easier to run without it! Oh, man! Pushing two kids in a stroller is hard work anyway and to add in a run really helps you feel the burn! I’m glad that I have opportunities to run in the rain. It’s not my favorite activity, but I feel like I need to do it just in case it rains in Texas in December.
We are still in the very early stages of training and I know it’s going to get harder, but that’s where you find your strength and courage. As someone with a question for what the future looks like sometimes, it’s nice to be in charge of a schedule and something that is benefiting me and ultimately my family.
