Budget Friendly Activities in Sacramento: Effie Yeaw Nature Center
This past Saturday, we went to the Effie Yeaw Nature Center for a little family outing. This center allows families an up-close look at creatures that are in our area and you can even walk some fun trails, including the one we took to a pond. We had such a great time and we finished off the outing with ice cream.
When you first arrive there is a little outside area, including picnic tables for you to have a lunch. The indoor area shows a little bit more about the history of the Indian tribes that were in our area, including the tribe that Myke belongs to the Mechopda tribe of the Maidu indians. I loved pushing Olivia in her stroller around to see the different animals and she actually pointed and was interested in looking at them, which I thought was pretty awesome at her age.
The outside is so fun with interactive huts and animals for little kids to look at. There are also different trials for people to hike. Don’t worry-these hikes aren’t strenuous. I’m 30 weeks pregnant and was able to handle one that went to a pond that wasn’t even a mile away. We even saw another young lady with her two little boys and she was also very pregnant, you can handle it.
No family outing is complete without a little treat, so we stopped and got some ice cream on our way home at Gunthers in downtown Sacramento. OJ got a little taste of mint chocolate ice cream and she loved it.
All in all we had such a fun afternoon. It was so nice to get outside for a few hours and just be in nature and see a cool space.
