Weekend Update: Floods and Training

Some of the events that we will talk about in this post happened last Monday, but the whole ordeal just finished this past weekend. Last Sunday, I was doing our laundry and I noticed that there was some water on the ground. I thought it was ice that I had dropped earlier in the evening (this has happened before), but then there was more water before we went to bed, which we both thought was strange so we put a towel by the washer. We woke up the next morning to our tiny kitchen flooded. We were so upset, our landlord came by to help Myke with cleaning up and figuring out what was wrong. Unfortunately, when this happened, they figured out the pipe was broken and when they tried to move the washer to get a better look, the pipe broke completely and our kitchen flooded even more. Poor Myke. He took the day off work and waited for the right people to come and fix everything. Our apartment had a humidifier going all week to get the moisture out of the apartment, which meant our apartment was hotter than usual.Needless to say, I was a big ball of stress all week, hoping that our apartment doesn’t collapse on the apartment below us. Obviously this had no way of happening, but that’s the way my mind works. However, everything is all right, the kitchen is fine and nothing leaks anymore. I was happy that I was able to do laundry again this weekend and that was nice (I can’t believe I’m saying that).

Saturday we saw 22 Jump Street. If you are not offended by language, I would highly recommend it. I think it was well written and well done, they were super creative when it came to the plot and script. So well done cast and crew.

On a much happier note, Myke and I did two of our half marathon training runs this weekend. Sunday was the big 5 mile run. I say big because I was a little nervous about this one because I have been feeling a little weak ever since we started. However, we changed our path and we completely knocked it out of the park! We were hurting and exhausted  the rest of the night, but it was well worth it. I’m so glad that I have a partner to do this with. Myke is such a great support. Even if we don’t get in the race, I’m glad we are doing this.
