Throwback Thursday: Oscar Edition
My job at Paramount has a few perks. I get to go to screenings, give tours to important people, and sometimes I even get to cover desks of executives in the company. On one particular assignment, I was asked by the executive if I would help out with a special tour he was hosting. 5 other pages and myself walked 75 junior high students around the Paramount lot and then dropped them off to have pizza in front of the famous Bronson gates. The executive and his wife came and ate with the kids and it was nice to sit and chat with them about what I want to do with my life. To end the visit, the exec brought out the Oscar for The Godfather. Yes, THE Oscar for Best Picture. He brought it out so the kids could hold and take pictures with a real Oscar. He asked if us pages had ever held an Oscar, we all laughed and said of course not, so, before he had the kids take pictures, he made us take pictures holding the famous statue. I’m so glad he did.
Fun fact about the Oscars. When people on the stage are given their Oscars and they say, “Oh wow! This is heavy.” They are not joking. This baby weighs 8 pounds. Go to the gym, pick up an 8 pound weight, you just held an Oscar.
Also don’t you love my uniform? I don’t wear it any more because I’m temping at an office on the lot, but there it is in all its glory. Not pictures are the khaki pants.
Happy Thursday everyone! One more day until Friday! Have a good one!
