Weekend Update: Family Edition
As mentioned last week, my family was in town. Mom and Dad came for a visit and my grandmother, aunt and uncle came along and I was so excited to have them here, even if it was for a little bit. The main reason for the visit was to see the Paramount lot. I felt bad as soon as we got there because the store closed early (like it does every weekend, I just haven’t worked on a weekend in a very long time), the back lot had some filming going on so we couldn’t see all of it and the theater was closed because they had screenings of Transformers 4. However, that didn’t stop them from having a good time. I showed them movie clips and photos of films that were filmed on the lot, I drove them around and they took a lot of pictures and I got to show them the building where I work. They enjoyed it and I was so happy to do it for them. Another reason we love when my parents come into town is for the food. Myke and I love food, but we go the same places all the time because we can’t afford cool places to try new things. My mom loves doing that, so Myke and I are able to indulge for at least a couple days. The first night we ate at one one of the restaurants at the hotel they were staying at, the Langham (Mom loves this place!) called The Terrace. We had shrimp burgers and they were really good. However nothing can beat the next night. Saturday night, my mom got a recommendation from a family friend for an Italian place called Mi Piace. I don’t think I have ever had better Italian food and possible one of the best nights of service I’ve had in a long time. I had a seafood dish with mussels, calms, shrimp, and scallops with pasta. The sauce was amazing and I didn’t want to stop eating. When we walked in we saw the desserts, so we knew we had to have dessert, so Myke and I split a salted chocolate tart with vanilla ice cream. Words will never describe how good that was. Everything we got was recommended by our waitress and she was the best. If you ever go here, ask for Elena. They all left on Sunday, but first Mom and Dad took Myke and I to lunch and then took us for a little shopping trip. I got another pair of nice jeans (that were $11 from Gap, no joke!) and Myke got a sweet blazer. I had such a beautiful weekend with my family, and here are some pictures to help you see how amazing everything was.

Bananas Foster dessert from dinner one. (I have no idea why this picture is so terrible)
Myke had his first macaron ever and he loved it. Cute little place in Pasadena.
Dinner 2. My seafood dish.
THE Dessert.
What kind of things to you do when your family is in town?
