Christmas at the Clements
Whenever we come back from Thanksgiving, we always get busy and I should really know better. I know it has been a little while since I have written, but what can I say, life happens.
Thanksgiving was just what I needed and wanted. I missed seeing my siblings in both families, but I did talk to them for a little bit on the actual day. Myke drove up on Wednesday and we did our 5K run on Thanksgiving morning. It was the perfect sunny/cool day for a run. I loved it. After the shower and the pre feast nap, it was time to help get things together because Thanksgiving was at Mom and Dad’s. We ate and it was wonderful to be around family. Friday we ventured to my in-law’s and we saw The Theory of Everything. 7/10 in my opinion, Eddie Redmayne did an incredible job and he deserves every award that they will give him.
Sometimes Myke and I talk about going out into the crowds and looking for things on Black Friday. We have done a few times before and both of us have scored great deals on those days. This year, my mother in law invited me, but I was too tired and decided to sleep in. On our way to their house, Myke and I stopped by the Target by their place to see if they had anything Christmas for sale. We had been wanting to get more Christmas items this year, especially with our new apartment and they way it looked. Sadly, nothing of theirs was on sale and I walked out a little blue. When we got to my in-law’s place, we walked in and Kim showed us her amazing finds. I mean, she found some great stuff, she found lamps for their bedroom that were originally $75, but they were marked down to $50 and she got an additional 50% off! We weren’t there 1 hour when she turns to me and asks if I wanted all of her old Christmas stuff, including their 6 foot tree. The main thing Myke was looking for was a new tree for us. My smile could not have been bigger. Not only does she have amazing and beautiful holiday items, but they are the color scheme I love! Plus, she gave us her old bedroom lamps! Again, they go great with our new room. In a nutshell, Myke and I scored on Black Friday and we didn’t have to spend a dime. Black Friday success!
When we got home, Myke put up the tree while I decorated the hutch and got the ornaments ready. We still kept a few of our ornaments and used them for other things. For example, our first year of marriage we got the smallest tree in the world and got really small ornaments to decorate. We kept those to remind us where we have come from in the holiday season. We used them to decorate the hutch and I smile when I look of those and think of our first Christmas together and how Myke surprised me with that tiny little tree. He has always gone along with my silly Christmas ideas and never complained once. He is one amazing man and I’m so thankful for him.
